3 tips: For a Beginning Web Designer

Starting off as a Web Design can be a daunting thing just like starting off in any industry. But being a beginning Web Designer can also be the greatest time for any designer. At this point in your design career everything is still great, your clients are the best thing, and you are going to be the on the edge of what is trending in web design. Still anyone as a beginning web designer can use tips to help them getting started.

1. Become Platform Agnostic

A lot of web designers are in two different camps; either code is king or GUI interface is king. The fact is they both have their pros and cons. It is okay to prefer one over the other but choosing one and ignoring the other is leaving money on the table. You can still be a web designer that uses Dream weaver or similar programs and codes in HTML or PHP and still know how to use WordPress and Adobe Muse. As a web designer you will have clients who sometimes may prefer one these platforms over another and simply cutting into more clients that you could have.

2. Do not Fake it Until you Make it

There is a saying that is “fake it until you make it” this means you to keep acting like you can till you know how. In other words learn as you go. As a beginning web designer you are going to have to do this at some point no matter what. There is something that is going to come along that you where not ready for and need you to act like you know how to do this while you work on it. It is has how all designers get over some of the biggest hurdles and learn some of the best tricks. The fact is that if you do this to much while you are starting off you may get burned and not know how to deal with the repercussions.

3. Keep all Devices in Mind

Today a static website is as bad as still having a flash based website. With smartphones and tablets being what they are today websites need to be responsive to fit on all devices. All platforms now support responsive design but still you need to know how to optimize layouts for responsive design to make sure it works on all devices.
