About the Project

BackPack Records came to Inner Geek Designs needing a logo, website, and printed records. They where looking for something modern but have an edge to show their indie side. They wanted something that people would clearly understand and being indie without being completely off the wall. BackPack Records was also looking a simple and easy to use website that is mobile friendly. They also needed packaging for some of their albums these include digital artwork for digital downloads, CD cases (jewel cases and CD sleeves), and vinyl record sleeves.

Measure of Success

When sitting down with BackPack Records we needed to understand how to tell if the website, logo design, and print design was a success.

The way that we are measuring the success of the BackPack Records website is:

  • Increase amount of visitors to the website
  • Increase length of visits
  • Decrease bounce rates
  • Increase leads from the website

The way that we are measuring the success of the BackPack Records logo is:

  • How is it received by their target audience
  • Does their branding exposure grow

Completed Project

With the project being such a large project it needed to be broken into different segments to make it manageable to finish. The first task to do was to design the logo for BackPack Records. The logo needs to be something icon and that represented what BackPack Records is (an independent record label). The final concept that we landed on for the logo was the idea of records coming out of a BackPack. This is to show the roots of BackPack Records. Which is selling CDs out of a backpack in high school. The logo also uses a simple color scheme with a little color pop, This color pop is used in the rest of all the other materials.
