Why Should you: use Pinterest in your Marketing

Social media has become a driving force in marketing today. What is better than having the ability to directly communicate with your customers and get instant feedback? Well in marketing not much. That is why more and more companies are using social media. The main question is what social media to use for your company; Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, Pinterest, Instagram, or any other. It all comes down to what is your target audience. Each social media mainly attracts different types of audiences with some overlap. Facebook is if you want to reach mainly middle class mid 20s-40s. Twitter is a mix of a millennials, corporations, and people in corporate world. LinkedIn is all business all the time.

Pinterest is maybe not the first option for a social media platform to use in your marketing. Well unless a large chunk of your audience is women. Then and only then might you start thinking about using Pinterest. It is one of the social media platforms that has drawn women to it for the simple reason that is the function of Pinterest. The way that Pinterest works is similar to a digital scrapbook or bulletin board. When people login to Pinterest they are presented with mason layout of posts people have made. People can then choose to add any post they like in what are called boards, these act as scrap boards or bulletin boards for people to collect ideas, wish lists, or whatever they would like.

You should not only use Pinterest if your target market is women but you should also consider is your product craft related, wedding related, feminine product, or can do tips and tricks. This platform is more about getting your post on as many boards as possible. When people follow boards, they will see any new posts added to it. A lot users will have boards set up for specific groupings (i.e. craft projects, my wedding ideas, jewelry I want, etc.)

Pinterest used for Exposure

Just like any other social media platform you should use them to make sure that you are getting more exposure and brand building. Pinterest is great for this in a couple of ways. Not only can you get people to follow your specific boards so they can stay up to date on all your content. Alternatively, people could be following other boards that could have your content added to it. This can allow a post you made months ago become relevant again so make sure you do not post content that is time sensitive often. Unlike other social platforms Pinterest allows users to share posts on other social media platforms. This means someone one can take your post and then share it on Facebook or Twitter and have that post get further attention than just keeping it on one platform.

Pinterest as a Sales Converter

Most people who are in marketing are looking for a quick way to make a conversion. Well first off if you are still having that mind set about digital and social media is unrealistic and stupid. Conversions from social media and digital media as a whole are small percentage and can take a while. But being a smart marketer like I know you are you should not just put your eggs into one basket with your lead generators; right? Pinterest makes it a lot easier for people to add a link to a post for people to follow to learn more about your product. Say you are making a craft products and you want to lead people to your big cartel or etsy shop you can use this be a call to action to make more  conversions.
